Guidelines for Student Dress Code and Uniform Policy Guidelines
for Student Dress In an effort to provide a safe and orderly environment for
our students, ACADEMIC ATTIRE IS TO BE PURCHASED DURING REGISTRATION IN
AUGUST. THE ONLY ITEM THAT MUST BE PURCHASED AT SCHOOL IS THE SHIRT. COST IS
$15. SCHOOL
UNIFORM POLICY It is expected that all students maintain a neat and orderly
appearance. A student’s dress and general appearance should not draw undue
attention, nor should appearance detract from or interfere with the learning
process or the discipline within the school. Therefore, SHIRTS: Purchase at PANTS/ SHORTS/ SKIRTS: Color must be tan/beige, and must
be of Dockers style (no sweats, denims, or leggings). Waist size must be no
more than one size more than the student’s waist size. Pant cuff must have a
clean hem, and may not be frayed. The cuff may not be bound or tucked into
socks, shoelaces, or shoes. Shorts and skirts must be no shorter than mid-thigh
in length. Belts are permitted, but the belt and buckle must be plain and free
of patterns, prints, logos, emblems, etc. OUTERWEAR: Purchase at Sycamore or on your
own. Sweatshirts/jackets will be available for purchase at school with
embroidered school logo. All other outerwear will be only sweatshirts of
solid/plain red, white, black, or grey color and FREE OF PRINT OR LOGOS as well as consistenting with district
guidelines and of appropriate size. Sleeves may not extend past wrist, and
length may not extend past top of the leg. Hooded sweatshirts are permitted,
but students may not cover their head with hoods. All uniform attire must be purchased according to
appropriate size. It is expected that any oversized or modified uniform attire
will be replaced immediately. Payment plans are available for qualifying
students with a credit limit of 2 shirts outstanding ($30). All payment plans
are due by May 1st of the school year. Payments are made to the

UNIFORM POLICY CONSEQUENCES Students out of uniform will be sent directly to the AP’s
office for action. Students who violate the uniform dress code policy will face
disciplinary action involving one of the following: 1st offense: parent contact, 60
minute detention 2nd offense: parent contact, referral
to AP 3rd offense: parent contact,
On-Campus Suspension, Intervention Contract with parent conference 4th offense: parent contact, suspended off-campus for 3 days 5th offense: Five-day
suspension, Local School Placement Conference STANDARD
DRESS CODE All students and those that opt out of the uniform policy
must adhere to the standards outlined below. This dress code will be
consistently enforced.
School personnel are responsible for maintaining proper and
appropriate conditions conducive to learning. The purpose of adopting the dress
guidelines is not to infringe on any individual student’s right to freedom of
expression, but rather to encourage students to come to school properly
prepared to participate in the educational process. We appreciate the support
offered by the students’ families. Students will
not wear or display the following gang, tagger,
crew, clique clothes, apparel or drawings: 1. “Ben Davis”, “Frisco Counties”, “Solo”, “Players 69”,
“Johnny Blaze”, “SUR”, “Orange County”, “OC”, “Los Angeles”, “L.A.”, “R.I.P”,
“Rest in Peace”, “Mi Vida Loca”, “My Crazy Life”, “Smile Now, Cry Later”,
“South Pole” clothes and/or apparel 2. Gang, tagger, crew, clique numbers, letters, symbols,
drawings and/or tattoos to include, but not limited to the following:
3. Military style belt buckle with initials 4. Long end of belt outside of belt loops 5. Head gear unless approved by school administration 6. Helmets 7. Bandanas of any size or color 8. Pants larger than two inches over wearer’s normal waist
size 9. Alterations to pants to reduce appearance of waist size
of baggy pants 10. “Sagging” pants of any style - pants are worn at waist
level 11. Pants with frayed cuffs 12. Pants with inseam and/or seam cut from bottom of cuff 13. Combination of shorts with length below knees and socks
at or above knees 14. Tight jeans with high cuff 15. Tight t-shirt with rolled up sleeves 16. Athletic jerseys or apparel with “star” insignia 17. Metal studded clothes or apparel 18. Pet type choker chains 19. T-shirt bottoms below fingertips when arms hanging at
side 20. Additional items as determined by direct feedback and
observation from school administrators, safe school program specialists and
