Free Tutoring for Students at Sycamore
Get free tutoring outside of school What are Supplemental Educational Services (SES)? Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are academic instruction and/or tutoring services, conducted outside of the regular school day, designed to increase the academic achievement of students. The tutoring services are free of charge to students, and are aligned with the content and instruction used by the school, and aligned with the State’s academic content and achievement standards. SES must be high quality, research based, and specifically designed to increase student academic achievement [Section 1116(e)(12)(C); 34 §C.F.R. 200.45(a)]. Are you eligible to receive free tutoring services through SES? 1. Must attend a Title I school, which has failed to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) targets for three or more years, under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. 2. Each school, approved to offer SES, will host an SES provider fair, in which eligible students and their parents are invited to talk to SES providers. The SES provider fairs are usually held in November. 2. SES applications are distributed at the SES provider fair. Additionally, 200910 SES 3. applications will be added to this webpage, in October 2009. 4. Most students apply for SES in November, after attending their school’s SES provider fair, but eligible students may apply anytime between November and the end of March. 5. Eligible students, who wish to apply for SES, must fill out an application, and submit it to the designated school official, usually the student’s guidance counselor.
